Ardalan Azim
Ardalam gave good, full answers and his pronunciation was of a good standard. He was able to understand all of his questions and used appropriate language, but did need prompting on several occasions. Also, there were a couple of minor errors, especially using the incorrect form of a word, such as, ‘kindly’ rather than ‘kind’.
Khashayar Seyfi
Khashayar gave a lot of short responses and they did not flow as easily as they should for this level. There were also a few misunderstandings when asked various questions, but he had some good ideas and vocabulary. It is just unfortunate that he was not able to use appropriate language to give a good enough response. Furthermore, I would advise him to work on his tenses as he used the present tense when it should have been the past.
Marziyeh Farzaneh
Marziyeh gave a good introduction and used descriptive language well. Also, she was able to comprehend the majority of questions, but needed some prompting and paused for long periods when responding which can result in a less fluid response. Furthermore, she needs to be careful with plural forms because she used a singular noun when it was supposed to be the plural form.
Reza Rashidi
Reza demonstrated and excellent range of vocabulary and used some complex structures in his response. Furthermore, he was able to self-correct himselfon numerous occasions. However, he did make a few minor errors, e.g. ‘bigger one’ instead of ‘older/oldest’ and using an incorrect preposition. Also, I would advise him to slow down next time as this could be why he makes minor, but important mistakes.
Mohamadjafar Alinejad
Mohamadjafar was able to understand harder tenses, such as, the Present Perfect Continuous. He also used if clauses well in his answers and gave a full introduction. Unfortunately he had to be prompted several times and used incorrect verbs, like ‘have’ instead of ‘be’. In addition to this, he should work on adjectives and adverbs because he tended to use an adverb rather than the adjective form.
Sajad Esafandiyari
Sajad showed a relatively good level of pronunciation skills and seemed to understand the questions well enough, but only when they were slowed down or reworded slightly. However, he struggled to give fuller responses and had to be prompted a lot. Furthermore, he paused for long periods during his response and this hindered his response.
Reza Rabiei
Reza tried to express himself fully by using appropriate language when answering his questions. Also, he used some appropriate phrases, such as, ‘I think’ when starting his response and used comparative language well. Nevertheless, he needs to work on using articles more because he often missed these out of his sentences.
Sahar Sadeghi
Sahar was a controlled speaker who used a lot of appropriate language to express her views and to give emphasis. Also, she did not need prompting at all and was able to give fuller answers. She should think about using pronouns to replace nouns because she repeated ‘my bedroom’ a few times when referring back to it, but she should instead use ‘it’.
Ali Zare
Ali gave a good introduction about his background, but failed to do the same when asked specific questions which resulted in me having to encourage a fuller reply from him. He should work on his grammar more as he needed to use the Past Simple at times, but used the Present instead. Having said this, Ali did try to answer all of the questions, even if he was not 100% sure of how to.
Shayan Ranjbar
Shayan used suitable vocabulary when answering and was able to use frequency adverbs and comparative language well. He had to be prompted a couple of times, but struggled to follow questions when I used referencing language to refer back to something I had already mentioned. Although Shayan had problems with some of the questions, he tried to answer them to the best of his knowledge.
Zeynalabedin Zarei
Zeynalabedin gave a good introduction and tried to answer all the questions. However he did not understand them fully and this ended up with him giving a different answer to what was being asked. He needs to work on his word order because he regularly produced sentences, but he did not use his words in the right order. Also, he needs to work on his grammar and verb forms as he sometimes used ‘to’ after a main verb, e.g. ‘I like to horror movies’.
Parvin Basatandaz
Parvin gave an in-depth introduction, had good pronunciation of words and was able to self –correct, which is good to see. She also used tenses appropriately, but often made article errors. I would also advise her to work on using the correct prepositions as she said ‘ in home’ rather than ‘at home’.
Leila Siros
Leila had a good range of vocabulary and used various adjectives when describing. However, she needs to work on her comparative language as she did not use comparative adjectives when she really needed to. Also, I would suggest that Leila works on her listening skills further because she tended to respond to with an answer different to the question being asked.
Farnosh Gholipour
Farnoshgave a very good account of herself and has a good range as vocabulary as she was able to use ‘hanging out’ in a suitable sentence. She had a few issues with using right tenses to answer questions and using pronouns, so I would recommend that she works on her grammar further for next time.
Mostafa Ghorbani
Mostafa gave a lot of information about himself, but when asked individual questions he struggled to perform well and needed to have his questions repeated frequently. Although he did demonstrate some good grammatical structures, he struggled with understanding the question fully enough to give a fitting answer.
Mohamad Amin Hedayati
Mohamad was able to extend his answers fully and used good structures to link his ideas together. In addition to this, he could understand and demonstrate conditionals correctly and used suitable vocabulary. He needs to work on using synonymous language because he occasionally repeated the same linker, rather than using an alternative one.
Mohamad Reza Hasanli
Mohamad was a clear speaker and used some key vocabulary. At times he misunderstood the questions being asked and had some issues with his grammar because he missed out auxiliary verbs and could not understand the Present Perfect tense.
Amin Chabokrou
Amin used comparative language well in his introduction and demonstrated a good understanding of various tenses. He needs to work on his word order further because he often put his adverb in the wrong position, for example, ‘Hardly ever I go to the cinema.’
Ali Dorodgar
Ali understood various structures and used a wide range of vocabulary to answer certain questions. He pronounced a couple of words incorrectly, e.g. ‘company’ and paused in between sentences repeatedly. Also, I would advise Ali to think of more appropriate phrases to use when he does not have an answer to a particular question, rather than saying ‘I don’t know’.
Fatemeh Izadi
Fatemeh was a controlled speaker, who spoke clearly and was easy to understand. She gave quite short answers resulting in her having to be encouraged to expand on them. Also, I would suggest that she works on her plural forms because she used singular nouns when a plural one was needed. Nevertheless, she used her lexical knowledge well.
MohamadHosien Golkarfard
Mohamad had an excellent knowledge of vocabulary and this was evident in his responses. He also had good pronunciation skills and spoken at a natural speed. There were only a few problems with his understanding of a couple of questions as he occasionally misheard certain words resulting in an alternative answer to what was being asked. Having said this, Mohamad never had to be prompted.
Mersad Abdolahi
Mersad used some excellent opening phrases and was a very natural speaker with substantially good stress and intonation. Also, he used quite advanced vocabulary for an Intermediate student. The only major fault I noticed with Mersad’s answers was that he used the wrong preposition a couple of times. He should work on this and now try to use idiomatic language to become even more fluent.
