Interview Feedback Level 8 Group 2
Amirhosein Dabbaghmanesh
Amir spoke clearly and demonstrated good listening skills. He used correct verb patterns and could use a range of modal verbs properly. He needs to work on his comprehension further because he understood ‘fiction’ as ‘non-fiction’ and vice versa, which resulted in an conflicting response. Also, he needs to use more opening expressions, expand some answers even further and would benefit from upping his speed as this reduced his fluency.
Shahin Sadeghimazidi
Shahin gave a detailed introduction and this continued throughout. He used a range of grammatical structures correctly and used a brilliant array of vocabulary such as ‘fundamental’. Furthermore, if he was unsure, he would double check before answering and self-corrected himself if he made an error. He did struggle with the question about tourism due to him not knowing the definition of ‘attract’ and he missed out the odd word in his sentences a couple of times such as not using an article or auxiliary verb.
Elnaz akhtari
Elnaz demonstrated excellent listening skills and used a wide range of lexis which fitted each question perfectly. She varied her opening phrases and could paraphrase well. Furthermore, she spoke with correct intonation and stress and seemed to have developed a good accent too. She would benefit from working on her conditionals further because she answered a 2nd conditional question using 1st conditional and missed out superlative adjectives, for example, ‘the important holiday is…’.
Sina Ghalegolabizade
Sina illustrated a good comprehension of English and gave accurate answers to each of his questions using a wide range of vocabulary well. He could speak in the present and past tense accurately but would benefit from working on his pronunciation further as he mispronounced ‘satellites’. Also, there were several times when the wrong word form was used such as ‘medicine supplies’ instead of the adjective form.
Sahar Ardeshiri
Sahar gave lengthy answers for each of her questions and used a range of grammatical structures well like time clauses and conditionals. Also, she could understand her questions easily which showed good listening skills. Having said this, she could further work on her grammar because she used the past simple tense when the perfect was needed and had a few issues with correct word form and missed out articles and ‘s’ off plural nouns e.g. ‘If I were inventor, I would invention…’.
Forough Mohammadi
Forough formed sentences with ease and varied her modal verbs. She had excellent descriptive skills and used an array of adjectives. Also, she gave full answers and used suitable example to support her ideas. However, she missed out the odd word or two in some of her sentences which reduced her fluency and used singular verbs when the plural version was needed such as ‘lots of people was homeless’.
Razie Rasoolzade
Razie used some excellent vocabulary like ‘addict’ and gave some really good examples to support her answers on technology. She spoke at a good pace and did not struggle with any of her questions. She should work on expanding more of her answers as most were quite limited in detail and she would benefit from focusing on her grammar more because she constantly missed out her auxiliary verb in passive sentences and used an incorrect verb or preposition, for example, ‘I have enough time for read’.
Neda Hashemzade
Neda had good pronunciation skills and used a range of examples in her responses. She could use the present and past simple tense relatively well and had good listening skills. She was able to give detailed answers, but they were not fluid and she constantly used ‘erm’ to think which made it harder to follow her ideas. Also, she should try to rephrase her answers because she tended to use the exact same vocabulary from the question.
Maryam Fadaee
Maryam used a variety of opening phrases and easily understood most of her questions. She spoke at a good pace and used appropriate vocabulary throughout. She struggled to comprehend questions using conditionals and made several errors with word forms as she said ‘they do my life easier’ rather than ‘…make my life…’. So she needs to work on her grammar understanding further.
Elnaz Ebrahimi
Elnaz had very good listening skills as she did not need her questions repeated. She was able to give detailed answers and spoke well in the present tense. Furthermore, her vocabulary used to talk about natural disasters fitted perfectly. Having said this, she needs to do this for all of her questions as some of her replies lacked additional vocabulary to develop her ideas further. Also, she had a couple of issues with prepositions and comparative adjectives as she said, ‘it help me to be fast’.
Hasan Mardane
Hasan used appropriate examples and a wide range of lexis in his answers. He could start his replies with a variety of expressions. He was able to understand his questions easily which demonstrated good listening skills and his answers were detailed. However, he needs to speak at a quicker pace and work on parts of hiss grammar more as he missed out the odd auxiliary and modal verb. One example of this is when he said, ‘buildings destroyed’.
Maryam ghatyi
Golnoosh was very descriptive in her answers and spoke at a natural pace. She used quite advanced vocabulary like ‘potential limitations’ and could talk at length using a range of grammatical structures with ease. Although her grammar comprehension was to a high level, she was not able to answers questions using 3rd conditional and missed out the odd article e.g. ‘internet’ instead of ‘the internet’.
Masoud Mazareie
Masoud had good listening skills because he was able to understand all of his questions without any difficulties. He could use simple sentences and used correct stress and intonation. Having said this, he really needs to work on his vocabulary as his answers were very limited and he was not able to expand on any of them. Also, he seemed to confuse the meaning of ‘fiction’ and ‘non-fiction’ because when asked about his favourite type, he said ‘non’ but then stated that his favourite book was ‘Lord of the Rings’. Finally, he should introduce opening phrases to help start his answers.
Mohammad SadeghRasooli
Mohammad could understand all of his questions easily and used a range of modal verbs accordingly. He used a range of adjectives during his descriptive answers such as ‘lush’ and used opening expressions. He should work on his pronunciation and grammar more as he could not comprehend conditional structures and mispronounced a couple of words. Also, he would benefit from speaking at a quicker pace to up his fluency as there were times when he paused in between sentences which lowered his fluency.
Leila Sherafat
Leila used a range of adverbs properly and could speak in simple sentences well with few errors. She used suitable vocabulary like ‘fatty food’ and was able to comprehend all of her questions with ease. She should try to use more sequencing words when talking about her routine and needs to work on her 1st conditional structure because she missed ‘will’ out of them or used an infinitive verb rather than present simple one.
Sima Salari
Sima gave a detailed introduction and used some opening expressions, which was nice to see at this level. She used full sentences throughout and was able to speak in the present simple tense confidently. Also, she demonstrated a good range of vocabulary and was able to use comparative language accurately, especially when comparing with the past. She should try to use more complex language like conditionals and present perfect, and she would benefit from using more colloquial expressions to up her fluency.
