Level 4 (intermediate) G1
Hamed Tavakoliyan
Hamed could use words to add emphasis in his answers, such as, ‘too’ and ‘so’. Also, he used the present tense well and used some appropriate English expressions. He needs to work using linkers to join his ideas together because he would often say ‘I like to… I like to… I like to…’. Furthermore, he used adjectives when he should have said the noun form.
Solmaz Reyhani
Solmaz gave a detailed introduction and she used the past and present tenses correctly. She made a couple of grammar mistakes, one being that she would miss the ‘s’ off plural nouns, also, Solmaz needs to work on word order more, for example, ‘with my friend or sister I’m going shopping’. Finally, she was not able to reproduce second conditional sentences.
Hamideh Ghasemi
Hamideh self-corrected throughout and she was able to talk at length about her family. Also, she was able to use the first conditional well and she had good pronunciation skills. However, she needs to work on grammar tenses further because she tended to use the present tense when the past was needed. In addition, Hamideh answers a couple of questions incorrectly as she misheard some of them, so she should work on her listening too.
Kamran Eslamlo
Kamran was a friendly candidate who gave a good description about his background and he clearly demonstrated that he knows a variety of words. Having said this, he struggled immensely with the questions because he answered them with a completely different response, so he needs to work more on his listening skills. Also, he should work on his grammar more as he missed the ‘s’ off plural nouns and third person verbs.
Mehdi Hashemi
Mehdi spoke at a good pace and demonstrated excellent listening skills because he was able to understand questions immediately. Also, he pronounced words correctly as he used intonation and stress well. He should focus on his vocabulary more because when he was asked some of the more complex questions, he struggled to answer them as he did not know the meaning of a particular word. Furthermore, he did not use articles properly and he tended to use a singular verb instead of a plural one e.g. ‘three brothers is older’.
Poran Mosalanejad
Poran used a wide range of vocabulary in her responses and they were always directly related to the questions. At times, she spoke slowly, but her pronunciation skills were of a good level. However, Poran needs to use conjunctions a lot more because she would have good ideas and use short sentences well, but she really needed to join them together to give a more fluent reply.
Mahmod Madadi
Mahmod was an excellent candidate who spoke confidently and clearly, he also used complete sentences well. In addition, he used a lot of sophisticated vocabulary, such as, ‘liberal’ and ‘freedom’, and he did not struggled with the harder questions. He should work on his tenses more because he was able to use present simple and past simple well, but sometimes did not use the present perfect correctly.
Rahim Akbarpour
Rahim was a clear speaker and he gave full responses. Furthermore, he was able to give a lot of details, when the questions related directly to his life, although when they were slightly broader ones, he found it harder to give enough information. Also, he had a couple of grammar errors, in particular with third person verbs as he said ‘it have…’.
Najmeh Shojaeiyan
Najmeh used some good opening phrases to give her opinion, like, ‘I think’. Also, she used linkers well to join her ideas together and she used suitable vocabulary. Having said this, she should work on her grammar further because once or twice she used the present tense when it should have been the past simple; also, she used comparative adjectives when she wanted to use a superlative one.
