Level 4G1

ZarinValiBeygi

Zarin demonstrated brilliant listening skills as she was able to comprehend the majority of questions instantaneously. Also, she was able to use emphasis words and used suitable vocabulary throughout. However, she made some errors with the order of words, for example, ‘I often do 3 days when go to gym’ and at times she used the present continuous tense to describe a present simple action.

Maryam Maniyan

Maryam spoke at a steady speed and rarely paused in between her answers. Furthermore, she was able to expand her answers by giving reasons as to why she believed something and she had a good pronunciation of words. Having said this, Maryam needs to use a variety of linkers more as she generally used short sentences and she needs to work on her word order more as there were some issue with where she placed the main verb, such as, ‘I often with my friends go…’.

LailaDashti

Laila gave a detailed introduction about herself and her family and her pronunciation was of a good standard. Also, she spoke clearly and used a reasonable range of vocabulary in her responses. However, she needs to work on her grammar further because she used the present simple continuous instead of the present simple to talk about her likes and daily routines. Furthermore, she should focus on using linkers more as she would list idea rather than putting them into complete sentences.

Maryam Dashti

Maryam gave an excellent introduction and could form present simple and past simple sentences easily enough in her answers. Also, she used appropriate language to answer each question. However, she made several pronunciation errors, such as, ‘awoid’ for and ‘twince’ for ‘twice’, so she should work on this more. In addition, sometimes Maryam either used an inappropriate verb or missed off a preposition when attempting to use phrasal verbs, like ‘I can coach potato’.

SedighehFakor

Sedigheh spoke at a natural pace and demonstrated very good listening skills  as she was able to comprehend all of the questions, even ones with more complex structures in them. Furthermore, she used sequencers well and used a variety of obligatory language in her answers, which was good to see. There were a couple of mistakes with verb patterns as she said ‘I like to staying…’ and once or twice she used an incorrect prepositions, like ‘in my last vacation’, but overall an excellent attempt.

ZahraRezaei  

Zahra was a confident speaker of English who could use a wide range of vocabulary in her responses. In addition, she was able to form simple sentences correctly and self corrected at times. Having said this, there were a few issues with her grammar as once or twice she used an incorrect verb or said the wrong verb form, such as, ‘I have very activities’ instead of ‘I am very active’, and she did not use a gerund when talking about general likes/dislikes.

SaeedKaramNejad

Saeedwas a conscientious speaker who could speak in full sentences throughout. Furthermore, he was able to form sentences using the correct verb pattern, for example, ‘I try to eat…’. However, when he was asked questions regarding vacations, he struggled to give a detailed reply as his answers were quite short, so he should work on ways to expand these more.  Also, he missed out articles in his answers, such as ‘I’m lawyer’.

SamiraTasdighi  

Samira gave a very detailed introduction and she was able to produce a coherent answer to the broader questions. In addition, she was able to used articles correct and used time expressions well as a way to give a fuller response. Having said this, she did struggle with one or two questions and in particular with number three, ‘What do you do to stay healthy?’, so she should work on her listening a little more. Also, when asked about whether it was ok to wear clothing at work, she gave a subjective response.

ShimaAbedi 

Shima was a pleasant student who could use time expressions and frequency adverbs correctly. Also, she used a reasonable level of vocabulary and had good pronunciation skills. Having said this, there were many occasions when she miscomprehended a question which resulted in an inappropriate reply. Furthermore, she generally gave one sentence answers and had to be asked additional questions to gain more information, so she should look at ways to expand.

FatemehShah Kolahi

Fatemeh was a clear speaker who spoke in full, simple sentences throughout her interview. She was able to use an array of words to demonstrate she had a wide range of vocabulary and she could use modal verbs well.  She now needs to work on her pronunciation more as there were many times when she mispronounced words, such as, ‘awoid’, ‘egixiting’ and ‘sw- shirt’. Also, she made a couple of errors with verb patterns, like, ‘I to go egixiting places’.
