Interview feedback

Level 7 G1

25/02/12

Alireza  pakyari

Alireza use superlative adjectives well and was able to expand his answers by using examples to support his opinions. Furthermore, he was able to use a wide range of vocabulary, such as, ‘prohibition’ and he used first conditional structures correctly. Having said this, there were a few occasions when he missed out a modal verb as he said, ‘if someone enters, you open the door’, but he needed to add ‘should’. Also, he added ‘more’ with certain adjectives when it should have been ‘much’ to add extra emphasis.

Davod  Fazligolestani

Davod used opening phrases well, like ‘yes, of course’ and he used personal examples well in his answers. Also, he could use modal verbs appropriately, although he tended to only use ‘should’ so he should try and alternate this more. In addition, when he spoke about the past, he used present verbs and he ought to work on comparative language more as there were some issues with this too. Finally, he made a few mistakes with his pronunciation, and in particular, with intonation, so he needs to practise this further.

Maryam  Haghnegahdar

Maryam was able to use modals when giving advice and spoke clearly and at a good pace. Having said this, she needs to work on her listening a lot as there were several occasions when she misheard a question and gave an inappropriate response, such as when asked about etiquette, she could give examples of it, but did not explain what it is. Furthermore, she struggled to have a limited range of vocabulary as she could not comprehend some questions and she tended to list her ideas instead of using linkers to form complete sentences.

Behnaz  Yaseri

Behnaz used examples to support her answers and used a wide range of vocabulary in her extremely detailed responses. Also, she was able to form sentences easily enough and used linkers and pronouns well. However, she needs to work on her pronunciation more as there were several occasions when she mispronounced words, such as, ‘fork’ for ‘pork’ and ‘intracting’ for ‘interacting’. In addition, she often followed modals with a gerund rather than a bare infinitive, for example, ‘we can’t shaking hands’.

Elham  Merzaei

Elhamspoke clearly and used a lot of hand gestures. Furthermore, she had good listening skills as she was able to understand the majority of questions on her fist listen and her intonation was of a good standard. She needs to work on her grammar more as she used incorrect prepositions, like, ‘in 4 o’clock’ and she missed ‘to’ out after certain verbs such as ‘prefer’. Finally, she needs to expand her vocabulary more as she was not able to comprehend question 11 on ‘dress code’.

Pariya  Shabani

Pariya was able to speak at length for all of her questions and she could use suitable opening expressions to start them. Furthermore, she used phrasal verbs well and always tried to use examples and appropriate vocabulary in her replies. However, she had a couple of issues with her pronunciation as she pronounced ‘therapy’ as ‘treapy’, also she used an incorrect auxiliary verb once or twice as in ‘it’s not depend of …’.

Aida  Hozhabri

Aida used an array of words in her answers and was able to use adverbs perfectly. In addition to this, she could use modal verbs properly and she could speak in a variety of tenses easily. Having said this, she should work on the definite article more as she tended to use it when an article was not needed. Furthermore, sometimes her answers fell a little short, so she ought to expand them more next time.

Mohamad   Shakibamanesh

Mohamad had excellent listening skills and used first conditional structures correctly. Furthermore, he gave accurate responses and supported them with suitable examples; also he used opening phrases and rarely mispronounced words. He made a couple of errors with singular and plural verbs and he missed an ‘s’ off plural nouns, such as, ‘some change is good, some change are not good’.

Mahmoud  Hoshmandi

Mahmoud could comprehend his questions well and used a reasonable amount of vocabulary in his replies. Also, he had good pronunciation skills and could speak in simple sentences. However, he had a couple of issues with his grammar as he sometimes added ‘to’ when he should not have and he used an incorrect noun a few times, such as, ‘I buy clothes in shopping’ rather than ‘…in shops’. Finally, he should work on using alternative opening expressions as he tended to only use ‘I think’ to begin his replies.

Maryam   Dozandeh

Maryam could comprehend her questions well and she had excellent listening skills because she did not need her questions repeating or rephrasing. Furthermore, she used a wide range of vocabulary in her answers and was able to speak at length. Having said this, she made several mistakes in her grammar as she sometimes used an incorrect verb or preposition and there were a few times when she completely missed out a verb, for example, ‘people usually bright clothes’.

Sepidah  Sameti

Sepidah gave very detailed answers and was able to used modal verbs well in her replies. In addition, she used pronouns and clauses correctly, spoke at a natural pace and she used some excellent expressions, like, ‘as you may know’. She should work on her grammar a little further because once or twice she used a noun when it should have been a verb, such as, ‘they can communication’. Also, even though she used modals well, sometimes she needed a stronger one to evoke necessity.

Mandena  Madani

Madena demonstrated very good listening skills as she was able to respond instantaneously. Furthermore, she used comparative language and the past simple tense well when comparing the past with today. There were several mispronounced words, such as, ‘gesture’ as ‘guesture’ and ‘three’ as ‘tree’, so she needs to work on this further. Also, she often confused word forms as she would use a noun instead of an adjective or a verb when it should have been a noun. One example of this is, ‘I have different chooses’.

Arman  Dehghani

Arman could speak in simple sentences easily enough and used if clauses well. In addition, he was able to use appropriate words to add emphasis and used suitable words throughout. Having said this, his choice of words were not always in their correct form, for example, ‘you have to be punctuality’ and when he was talking about a stomach incident, he used the past continuous tense when it should have been the past simple. Also, there were a few occasions  when I needed to ask ‘why’ to gain more details, so he should work on other ways to extend his answers.

Nazanin   Mohamadinezhad

Nazanin gave reasons and examples in her answers as a way to extend them and she was able to use linkers well. In addition, she had a good pronunciation of words and in particular had good stress and intonation. She had a couple of issues with articles as she often used the definite one when non was needed, such as, ‘women shouldn’t shake hands with the men’. Also, once or twice she would add a preposition when again she should not have.

Mohamadjavad  Fathipor

Mohamad spoke at a good, natural pace and was able to use the present perfect tense correctly. Furthermore, he could comprehend questions well and could use phrasal verbs in his answers. However, he added ‘the’ before ‘most’ when he was not using it with an adjective, for example, ‘the most people …’ and he missed ‘to’ after certain verbs a few times, so he should focus on this more.

Ehsan  Jafaripor

Ehsan used comparative adjectives well and used relative clauses correctly. In addition, he was able to give lengthy replies and tried to use a variety of vocabulary in them. Having said this, he often used the wrong form of a word and sometimes missed out pronouns. Furthermore, he made a couple of pronunciation errors, such as, ‘win’ for ‘wine’ and he used the present perfect continuous tense when it should have been the past continuous tense (Last month I have been coughing…).

Hangameh  Mehran

Hangameh was a conscientious speaker of English who could talk in simple sentences reasonably well. Also, she had good pronunciation skills. However, it was difficult to assess her fully as she always gave brief replies, so she needs to work on ways to expand them. Furthermore, she struggled to comprehend all of her questions and had to have them repeated several times, thus she should work on her listening and vocabulary more. Finally, she often missed out pronouns or auxiliaries in her sentences, for example, ‘when say hello, no handshake’.

Reza   Rozitalab

Reza used modal verbs well and could comprehend the majority of questions easily enough. Also, he was able to speak in a variety of tenses and spoke clearly. Having said this, he had some slight issues with his pronunciation, as any words which began with a ‘v’, he would pronounce with a ‘w’ sound. Furthermore, he missed ‘s’ off some third person verbs and when he attempted to speak in the passive voice there was a minor error here, but it was good to see him try to use it all the same.
