Interview feedback

Level  10

25/02/12

Negin  Hiseini

Negin gave detailed answers and was able to sequence her reasons in her them well. Furthermore, she used comparative language and modals well. However, she had a few difficulties with comprehending some of the questions as she either could not answer them due to her not knowing key words, such as, ‘bargain hunter’, or she would miscomprehend a question which resulted in an inaccurate answer being given. So she should work on her vocabulary and listening more. Also, she made a couple of pronunciation errors, like ‘carrot’ for parrot’.

Mostafa  Mahmodiyan

Mostafa used opening phrases well, such as, ‘well to tell you the truth’ and could use opinionative language perfectly in his answers. In addition, he used a wide range of vocabulary and was able to use empirical evidence to support his views. He should work on his listening slightly as he misheard a question on a memorable advertisement and instead spoke about different types of advertising method. Also, there were one or two grammatical mistakes one being ‘it cost low than…’ instead of ‘less’, so he should be careful with this.

Mojtaba  Iranbastan

Mojtaba was able to use personal examples in his answers and gave detailed responses throughout. Furthermore, he used suitable vocabulary, could comprehend all of the questions easily enough and tried to use phrasal verbs. Having said this, he needs to work on his grammar more as he made some slight errors with some phrasal verbs, for example, ‘try to grow up me’ and he missed the ‘s’ of plural nouns e.g. ‘seven or six time per day’.

Maryam   Rezaei

Maryam spoke clearly and used comparative and superlative adjectives well. Also, she gave lengthy replies and was able to expand them with examples and reasons. Furthermore, if she was not 100% sure of a question, she would attempt to answer it anyway and this generally resulted in an appropriate answer. However, when she was asked about ‘why’ people need leisure activities, she names different types of activities instead of explaining ‘why’. So she should work on her listening slightly. In addition, sometimes she used a wrong word form, such as, an adjective instead of a noun e.g. ‘humans healthy’.

Narges   Parand

Narges used an excellent array of words and was able to use quite advanced language her answers. Also, she had very good listening skills as she could comprehend complex questions easily and she spoke at a natural pace. However, she rarely used opening expressions to begin her responses so she ought to use more next time. Furthermore, she made a couple of errors with tenses because when asked about something she had seen, she used base verbs instead of past ones.

Hosein   Javanmard Pour

Hosein used examples to support his answers repeatedly and had good intonation and stress. In addition, he could use phrasal verbs correctly and used appropriate vocabulary for each question. He had a couple of issues with past simple verbs because he added –ed to verbs which are actually irregular, for example, ‘when he drinked… he flied’. Also, he added an ‘s’ to uncountable nouns, so he ought to be careful of this too.

Fariba   ShahrAmiri

Fariba was a clear speaker who gave very detailed answers. Furthermore, she used advanced vocabulary and was able to speak in a variety of tenses well. However, she needs to work on her pronunciation more as there were quite a few number of words which were not pronounced correctly, including ‘common’, ‘hidden’ and ‘serious’. Also, she should try to use different opening expressions as she tended to use ‘I think’ a lot.

Alireza   Alinejad

Alireza was a controlled speaker who used the past simple tense correctly and demonstrated excellent listening skills as he was able to comprehend all of his questions with them being repeated. Furthermore, he used a variety of opening phrases and suitable lexis throughout. He should work on his grammar further as he sometimes used the verb form instead of noun form of certain words, like ‘…have connect with…’ instead of ‘have a connection with...’. Also, he pronounced words beginning with ‘v’ as ‘w’.

Vida  Gholamzadeh

Vida demonstrated strong listening skills as she did not struggle to understand all of the questions. Also, she had good pronunciation skills and used appropriate language at times. Having said this, she made a few grammatical mistakes as she used an incorrect prepositional pattern on several occasions, such as, ‘go out to running’. Furthermore, she missed the ‘s’ off third person verbs in positive sentences and on a few occasions struggled to give fuller answers, so she should work on this more.

Fereshteh    Tavakoli

Fereshteh had excellent pronunciation skills as her stress and intonation were on point. In addition, she was able to form complex structures well in her responses and they contained a wide range of suitable vocabulary. She made a few mistakes with prepositions in phrases, such as, ‘in the one hand’ and used an incorrect object pronoun once or twice. Furthermore, she should try to use more opening phrases to begin her answers.
