Interview feedback

Level 4 G 3

26/02/12

Noshin Arjang

Noshin spoke in full sentences and used frequency adverbs well in her answers. Furthermore, she had excellent listening skills as she was able to comprehend all of her questions well and she used key lexis throughout. However, she needs to work on her grammar more as sometimes she did not use main verbs when talking about activities, for example, ‘I bike riding, I swimming’. Also, she made a couple of pronunciation mistakes as she joined two similarly relating words together, such as, ‘twonce’ instead of ‘twice’ or ‘once’.

Mohamad Reza Kehtari

Mohamad was a clear speaker of English and spoke politely in his interview. In addition, he was able to use suitable language and speak in the present simple tense easily enough. Having said this, he made some prepositional mistakes, such as, ‘on the beach’ and he added auxiliary verbs once or twice when speaking about his routine. Finally, he mispronounced a few words, like ‘suit’, so he should be careful of that next time.

Mohamad Ali Kehtari

Mohamad spoke at a steady pace and was able to use a few examples in his replies. Also, he had some good ideas for each question, but sometimes he did not put them in complete sentences. Furthermore, when he did speak in complete sentences, he missed out subject verbs or put adverbs in an incorrect position, for example, ‘I exercise usually everyday’. Finally, he needs to work on his listening more because there were a few occasions when he misheard a question which resulted in an inappropriate response.

Fatemeh Sahami

Fatemeh had excellent pronunciation skills as she could use intonation and stress correctly. In addition, she used opinionative language well and used a wide range of vocabulary throughout. Also, she tried to use phrasal verbs, but made sometimes missed the preposition off them, for example, ‘I put jeans’. Furthermore, she should try and use sequencers more to stage her answers as when asked about her typical day, she tended to use ‘and’.

Ghasem Rozitalab

Ghasem had good pronunciation skills and was able to use correct verb patterns when speaking in the present tense. However, he had to have many questions rephrased, so he needs to work on his vocabulary and listening. Furthermore, he generally did not use linkers to join his parts of speech together and he was not able to expand on his answers, so again he needs to work on using examples and giving reasons more.

Nahid Madani

Nahid was able to speak in simple sentences well and could use modal verbs correctly and support her ideas with examples. In addition, she used suitable language and was able to comprehend the majority of questions. Having said this, when she spoke, she would pause in between sentences to think about her answer and this reduced her fluency. Also, when asked about if she was a couch potato, she used an incorrect verb, as she said, ‘No, I don’t coach potato’.

Hamideh Ghasemi

Hamideh gave a detailed introduction and could form conditional structures correctly. Furthermore, she used personal examples to support her ideas and spoke at a natural pace. However, she needs to work on her grammar more as she left out linkers and she used incorrect prepositions a couple of times. Also, she should work on her listening further because when asked about why people exercised, she talked about her own exercise regime and she was not able to comprehend a question on where she normally stays when on vacation.

Elham Ghasemi

Elham spoke in full sentences, used sequencers and adverbs well in her answers and could speak in the past simple tense well as she used past simple verbs correctly. However she struggled with some questions, and in particular, with questions 13 and 14 so she should work on her listening and comprehension more. Also, when asked about how she stayed healthy, she gave a lot of detail, but used an inappropriate verb as she said, ‘eat milk and eat juice’.

Roghayeh Hasanzadeh

Roghayeh was a polite candidate who could speak in full simple sentences. Furthermore, she use a wide range of vocabulary in her replies such as, ‘without limitations’ and if she was unsure of a question, she would clarify before answering, which is good to see. She needs to work on her pronunciation more because she pronounced words with a ‘v’ in it as a ‘w’, for example, ‘wail’ for ‘vail’ and ‘awoid’.

Aliakbar Mirheydari

Aliakbar gave an extremely detailed introduction and this continued with detailed answers throughout. In addition, he used frequency adverbs well and examples to give extra information and used a brilliant array of words including one or two idioms. Having said this, there were a couple of issues with his listening as when he was asked about what type of vacations he preferred, he responded with typical travelling problems instead.

Alireza Khosraviyan

Alireza was able to use sequencers well in his answers and could use ability structures well. Also, he was able to pronounced words correctly and used correct intonation and stress. However, he needs to work on his grammar more as he made some prepositional errors, such as, ‘in vacation’, and he missed ‘ly’ off some adverbs as he said, ‘I usual wear…’.

Yeganeh Honari

Yeganeh spoke clearly and at a natural pace. Furthermore, she used examples to support her ideas and she was able to use a variety of modal verbs to assert necessity and used pronouns correctly. However, she needs to be careful when speaking in the past tense as she tended to add ‘to’ after certain verbs, for example, ‘went to go to the beach’. Also, she followed certain verbs with an infinitive verb instead of a gerund, so she should be careful of this too.

Amir Jafari

Amir had good pronunciation skills and was able to speak in short simple sentences reasonably well. Having said this, he often gave rather brief responses and this limited what he could be assest on. Furthermore, when he spoke about his routine he used past simple verbs instead of present simple ones and, at times, he listed his ideas instead of using linkers to join them together.

Mohamad Amin Pirani

Mohamad tried to use a variety of structures in his answers, which was good to see. Also, he was able to speak in full sentences and managed to give detailed responses as he packed them out with personal examples. In addition to this, he used sequencers to stage his answers. He now needs to work on his grammar a little more as he used an inappropriate preposition once or twice, for example, ‘weather is rainy at vacation’ and he tended to add ‘-ed’ to irregular verbs.

Iman Mehdi Abadi

Iman spoke at a steady pace and had good pronunciation of words. Also, he was able to use the present simple tense well. Having said this, his answers were extremely short as he only gave one or two sentences for each. Furthermore, he needs to work on his vocabulary further because he often repeated the same words in his answers, rather than using an alternative one to demonstrate a wider vocabulary, for example, when he was talking about his typical day, he mentioned football and then when asked about doing activities on vacation, he said football again.
