3.       Samaneh

92%

This was a fantastic interview. It started off with a lot of hesitation in the first question, but throughout the rest of the interview the grammar was almost perfect with a mixture of tenses and vocab was excellent, for example, words such as ‘in moderation’, ‘laid on the beach’, ‘snorkelling’, ‘liberal attitude’. There were errors in present tense, where Reza mixed up the present simple and continuous as in questions 3 and 7. There were some good examples of problems in question 13.

9.       Ali

75%

Ali gave good examples in his answers and spoke well in the present tense. He used ‘usually’ a bit too much though. Good information in question 13, just try to start your sentence with ‘there could be…there might be…’A couple of vocab errors such as saying ‘culture’ instead of the adjective ‘cultural’, and he used ‘modest’ to describe a building, which wasn’t the right word. 10.Habibeh

80%

This was a good interview, because answers flowed nicely and grammar and vocab was generally accurate. It was good to hear the phrase ‘because it burns calories’ in the first question. Habibeh spoke well in the present tense with lots of times and it was good to hear ‘if’ phrases too. One error in pronunciation with the word ‘clothes’. ‘People’ is plural, so you should say ‘maybe the people are unfriendly’ in question 13.

2.Because it burns a lot of calories. I like to exercise because it makes me relax and me happy. I like to do aerobics and I go walking every day.

5.I get up at 7 o clock in the morning and after that I have breakfast and I brush my teeth and after that I go English class and I reach home about 1 o clock.

Some simple mistakes, such as forgetting the plural when talking about ‘two brother’, and forgetting to use ‘my’ when talking about ‘mother’ and ‘father’. 13. Fahimeh

62%

Fahimeh was able to answer all questions at a basic level and she spoke clearly. However, answers were very short; I needed to keep asking questions. There were simple grammar errors in present tense, such as not using ‘have/has’, and not using present simple 3rd person singular, such as ‘my father don’t’ and ‘my mother looking like…’

1.       I was /am 24 years old, I’m in a nurse, I work in hospital. Sure, …I was one older sister and two younger brothers. I am single. My brothers single. My sister’s married.

15. Amin

60%

Amin was able to answer some questions, but he struggled with the days of the week and the months of the year. He made a mistake in the simple present tense, when he said ‘I’m study…’ and a vocab error ‘manager sales’. Amin’s answers were too short.

Also, when I asked her if she lived with her parents she answered, ‘yes, I live with your parents’. Also, errors in using the present simple continuous instead of present simple for habits, such as ‘I’m going to camping etc.’ However, vocab was adequate and she was able to answer all the questions.

4. (No problems)

5. ( fine)

17. Mohamad hadi.

80%

Mohamad hadi answered questions well, with good vocabulary and well prepared answers. A common problem was mixing up optimism/pessimism with optimist/pessimist. Also, he failed to use the present perfect tense in question 3, for example ‘changed my mind’. Question 11, he needed to change ‘live beyond your means’ to ‘my means’. Despite the errors, I was impressed with the vocabulary and opinions he expressed.

1.       Actually I’m more an optimist, because optimist can help us to see the solution when we deal with difficulty in life. Of course when I see a difficulty in my life I see the full half of the glass instead of the empty half.

3. For me, I think going to University has a real effect on my mind and changed my mind that I can be now impressive people. If I try to be an instructor at University. It was one of my best life altering experience.

4. Of course, because you cannot perceive the reality, and always you want to think everything is nice, so it can be harmful for you. You need to a little pessimistic to find the facts. A healthy dose.

10. For me, it helps me unwind and helps me to concentrate on my studying. I prefer pop music. It helps me concentrate on the text.

9. I think sometimes music therapy can help them to be more cheerful and help them concentrate in their life and help them relax. It depends on the personality. They must design music sessions for them.

14.I think they must put some money away for the rainy days and they must cut down their expenses. Because I don’t save a lot of money I can’t help them.

18.Aida

87%

I was impressed with Aida’s vocabulary, for example, ‘keep a budget’, ‘a schedule for expenses’, ‘put everything in perspective’.  She also expressed her opinions well. There was a problem with the nouns ‘pessimist’, ‘realist’, ‘optimist’, as Aida did not use the article ‘a/an’, and perhaps it would have been better to use the adjective ‘pessimistic’, ‘realistic’, in question 1.

1.To be honestly I think I am more pessimist. I always want to be more realist in more situation. When I be in situation I don’t want to have bad effect in that situation and in that event and I face difficulties and I try to see the bright side, I’m trying to be optimist.

3. Sure, events in our life that completely change the way of our life, for example, birth of child, travel, jobs, make change in our life. I have changed with my first job that I talked about…I rented a field and I planted broccoli and I found many difficulties because it was far from my city, diseases and strange people really changed my traits, I think it was a good experience for me, I knew the real society and I feel more confident…

2. Pessimism and optimism can be useful. In some situations we should think more logically and put everything in perspective.

4. It’s not good in any situation. In some situation we should compare any ways together and make good decisions. Maybe with being more optimistic people can’t make good decision.

11. Yes, actually when I was children my mother taught me to save money in any situation . Anytime when I have no job I save money, I have money maybe a little for emergency.

14. Well, they should do it. Because all the people need to have saving money. They should make balance between their saving and earning money and keep a budget for themselves and a schedule for expenses should be useful for them and they should live within their means.

19.Davood

80%

Davood had some interesting answers and was able to speak freely about the topics with good vocabulary. The major problem, however, was the grammar- sentences were not accurately constructed, which meant that answers did not flow.

3.Later I worked with my father and I wasn’t completely satisfied. One of my friends gave me a book from Chris… and after that I completely changed my business style. I don’t have enough income but I am satisfied because I earn a lot of experience.

I gave money from my father and I afraid from risk in the business but after that that book told me if you want satisfied you should risk in your life.

1.       Usually I try to be optimist because without be optimist we always have problems in our life and sometimes I am pessimist because I think it is necessary in our life.

Because we are completely optimist maybe we lose something such as our money our emotion, if we are being completely optimist about our friends maybe they have some problems for us.

6.yes, of course it’s important, because that helps us to be relaxed sometimes and we can learn a lot of things from music because of music I listen that have good beat and lyrics, so they are necessary in our life and they help to learn things better such as study and listen to music.

8.sometimes I’m depressed and I’m upset so I listen to blue music or Iranian local music that helps me to be relaxed and forget my problems.

9.yes I think it help to nervous problems, and other emotional problems, but about body I don’t think because I never see somebody have treatment with music.

7.i like iranian local music, because it’s very good and it show my culture to people around the world, for example, I like…he’s a good musician and local singer, he has a good voice, he has a voice about problems in our country and he all the time helps to us being relaxed and have a good idea and have a make our mind for future and he thinks in future everything…and I like him

20.Alireza

85%

Alireza displayed some good vocabulary such as ‘occur’, ‘confront’, ‘spendthrift’, ‘thrifty’, ‘prevent’.   He answered questions well with good examples.  The problem with the fluency was the grammar. Some of the phrases were not correct and this made understanding difficult.

1.       I consider myself as an optimist. Because always I have a great hope for future and sometime if a difficulty occur I try to solve it and I try to confront it and find a solution to solve the problem I’m not such kind of person that stop trying to get the situation better than it is.

4. Sometimes a person who is optimist doesn’t pay attention to the realities that may exist and maybe take risks that …take fortune for him or her to cost the risk. Sometime optimist don’t pay attention to the reality of their environment or their abilities.

5. Yes I do. I don’t have regular programme for listening. Every time I feel I like to listen to music I do it, for example in car while driving or when I do exercise, any type of music I listen to, like western or traditional…

8. It depends on the person. But generally I think yes. Especially I read in our book that was interesting for  that classical music has effect on young children to improve their abilities, talents and also it gives them being calm;

11. I save  a little but not much because I almost spend as money as I earn.

13. I don’t spend more than I earn. And I am not spendthrift person and I think I am more freegle or thrifty person to spend money but I try to look at my budget all the time to prevent put myself in a difficult situation.

15. Yes I saved money last year to buy a new car and I’m glad for that programme or plan that I made to buy this car.

21. Pariya.

90%

Pariya gave good, complete answers, and she used lots of great phrases and vocabulary, such as ‘a big spender’, ‘keep track of my expenses’ ‘tight’. Sometimes she attempted to use phrases but got the grammar a little wrong, such as ‘should stand on my foot’ instead of ‘should stand on my own two feet’ , and ‘solve my problems with myself without helping…’ instead of ‘solve my problems by myself without help…’

1.Frankly I should say I try to be an optimist but in different situation I’m sometime I’m an optimist and sometime pessimist, but I try to be optimist because I see glass is half full and all the times think that life can be better and life is full of enjoy and can make their life better. But pessimist person think that life is bad and awful and with a lot of problems. Truly sometimes I see the glass as half empty.

3. Two years ago I got married and my life was changed a lot. Because before that my father and my mother supported me all the time. For example I never went to market to buy food but now I should go to the market for buying my necessary things and I learned that I should stand on my foot and I solve my problems with myself without helping my parents and for example I try to be a realistic person and find my problems with myself without helping.

6. yes I think yes because when listen to the music they feel better and they can do better and for example we can learn a lot of things with listening to the lyrics of the songs or when we are fell down we can feel better .

9. Yes, when we listen to the music we can approve ourself. When sick people listen to the music they can forget their illnesses and when they feel down in a dump listening to music is important for ourselves.

13.frankly I should say I am  a big spender and try to save a small part of my salary every month because when I want to buy my necessary things I have enough money to buy them and I try to live within my means and I keep track of my expense all the time. And I don’t like tight people. I try to be generous and help poor people. All the months I spend even a small part of my salary to give to the people and to help the poor people.
