Nahid Deilami
Nahid tried hard in her interview and provided some good examples of her free time activities and the reasons why she does exercise. She self-corrected a he/she subject error and understood all of my questions without difficulty. One major problem for Nahid is her sentence structure which she should work on improving as a priority. She must also remember to stay in the past simple throughout her story of a pat experience.
Ateke Haji Mohamadi
Ateke understood my questions well and her reflexive pronouns and phrasal verbs to describe her daily routine were all accurate. Unfortunately, Ateke forgot to include the main verb in the sentence on a couple of occasions and must be careful that her mis-pronunciation of words does not result in her producing a word with a completely different meaning eg., ‘shape’ was pronounced ‘sheep’ and ‘went’ as ‘want’.
Sahar Aredeshiri
Sahar understood my questions well, overall but unfortunately did misanswer one about hobbies to which she replied with the food she liked. She correctly included the past simple and self-corrected some of her mistakes with it. Going forward, Sahar should look to concentrate on trying to expand her answers further without the need of a prompt. She would also benefit from a study of accurate sentence structure.
Fooroogh Mohamadi
Fooroogh’s pronunciation are listening skills are both excellent and it is clear she feels very relaxed communicating in English. She has a great range of vocabulary and was able to describe her daily routine with a good mix of phrasal verbs and a variety of adverbs of frequency. Going forward, Fooroogh needs to focus on the accuracy of her speech, both in terms of her sentence and her verb structures.
Mahsa Rezaaei
Mahsa’s pronunciation is fine and she uses contractions regularly, which helps her speech sound more natural. She has a wide range of vocabulary and she was able to expand her answers without the need for encouragement. Two areas for Mahsa to focus on are her use of prepositions and her comparative and superlative adjectives.
Zahra Ardebili
Zahra listened carefully to my questions and repeated and worked through any of those she didn’t immediately get before answering which is good to see and much better than just asking for a repetition immediately. Her verb choice, prepositions and phrasal verbs were all good but she did not use the past simple when required which should certainly be her next step. She should also consider spending some time on her articles.
Soodabe Sameti
Soodabe used contractions well and was generally very articulate, speaking clearly throughout. Her range of vocabulary is excellent and she understood my questions without any difficulty. Unfortunately, Soodabe regularly forgot the verb ‘to be’ and confused her verb + infinitive or infinitive structures; both of which lost her marks.
Maryam Zahiri
Maryam was able to describe her daily routine accurately with the use of phrasal verbs and adverbs of frequency. Her pronunciation was fine and she seemed to be quite confident in her speaking. Unfortunately, Maryam did rush to answer my questions before allowing herself the time to ensure she had fully-understood what I was asking. Taking her time to listen carefully and think more about the questions and her answers would be my first piece of advice. She must also use the past simple when talking about a past event.
Amirhosein Tafaroji
Amirhosein understood my questions well and his responses were very clear and well structured. His range of vocabulary is excellent and he used a basic conditional structure accurately. Going forward, Amirhosein should try to push himself harder to produce more developed answers in order to show the examiner what he is really capable of. He must also be sure not to mix up his ‘in’ and ‘at’ prepositions.
Maryam Fadaeei
Maryam showed a high level of accuracy throughout the interview, particularly in terms of her regular and irregular past simple verbs. Her sentence structure was great and she provided and wide mix of vocabulary. A couple of areas in which Maryam could improve is on her use of articles and plurals which she made a couple of mistakes on. She should also try to expand her answers a little more, where possible.
Hamidreza Choobine
Hamireza’s pronunciation is fine and he was able to produce a good description of a typical day using phrasal verbs and prepositions but needs to revise his expressions and adverbs of frequency. He also included some regular past simple verbs. Hamidreza needs to work on the fluency of his speech as it is quite disjointed at present. Regular speaking practice will help with this. He must also try to further expand his answers without having to be prompted.
Mohammad Hadi Chakhmakh Saz
Mohammad’s range of vocabulary is very good and he spoke with a nice level of fluency. His answers were thoughtful and personal but he needs to make sure he listens carefully to the questions so as not to misanswer. He did make some common errors with his pronunciation of the words ‘island’ and ‘chemical’ but otherwise his pronunciation is fine. He must make sure he includes the necessary verbs and subjects.
Zahra Arash Poor
Zahra’s pronunciation is good and she spoke well throughout the interview. She understood my questions well and has a good enough range of vocabulary and knowledge of simple grammatical structures, such as the past simple, to be able to provide interesting and personal answers. An area on which Zahra should look to spend some time is differentiating between single and plural nouns.
Elham Shahriari
There were some technical issues which interrupted Elham’s interview and may have had some impact on her performance. Generally, she spoke well and has a good level of vocabulary. Unfortunately, Elham was very keen to ask for repetitions of my questions, including some very basic ones, without allowing herself the time to think through what I might have been asking. She lost marks for this as she seemed not to be putting as much effort into the interview as she could have done which is a shame as her speaking is good. Elham must get some more listening practice and should also ensure she is not using the verb ‘to be’ when it is not required
Shahnaz Zeraat Parvar
Shahnaz tried hard during the interview but was held back by a lack of vocabulary. She was able to explain a typical day using some accurate examples of reflexive pronouns and phrasal verbs and provided me with the some potential problems on vacation. However, Shahnaz needs to work hard to obtain some more basic vocabulary and must spend some time revising her sentence structure, in particular, adjectives before and not after nouns.
Vahid Tayebi
Vahid was able to provide some examples of problems you could have whilst on holiday and has an adequate range of clothing vocabulary but overall, he struggled with the interview as result of a combination of under-developed listening skills and a lack of knowledge of sentence structure. He must try to work on these areas in the near future and also work towards obtaining some more, basic vocabulary.
Samane Dastoor
Semane’s speaking was good and she was able to provide interesting and detailed answers to my questions. She used a variety of adverbs of frequency well and developed her answers without prompt. Unfortunately, Samane was really let down by her poor listening skills which she definitely needs to improve going forward. Another important area where she made a number of mistakes was in expressing her free time activities for which she repeatedly used the present continuous rather than the present simple.
Reza Eshaghi Doost
Reza’s pronunciation is fine and he was able to describe a typical day using some phrasal verbs and used contractions on a couple of occasions throughout his interview which worked well. Reza must practise his listening whenever possible and spend some time revising his sentence structure to allow himself the ability to provide more accurate, well-developed aswers.
Mohammadamin Raoofat
Mohmmadamin’s interview was interrupted more than once because of technical problems so his performance may have been affected as a result. His sentence structure, his listening skills and his pronunciation were all excellent and his answers were well-developed and thoughtful. Despite such a high level of accuracy, Mohammadamin did not include the past simple when necessary which he is certainly capable of doing. At this level he should look to push himself to include some more complex forms such as basic conditionals and future simple in order to compliment the skills he already has in English.
Ali Asghar Zare
Ali’s pronunciation is fine and was able to provide detailed information of where he goes for short and long vacations as well as provide clear information on what he does for a living and in his free time. Next time, Ali should try to expand his answers a little more without the need of a prompt and would benefit from a revision of phrasal verbs for describing daily routines.
Niloofar Bozorgi
Niloofar’s pronunciation is good and her listening skills are well-developed. She is clearly a confident communicator in English and gave a detailed introduction but she must be careful to talk too much and allow the examiner the chance to ask the required questions. Her range of vocabulary is broad but she needs to revise how to express her free time habits.
Mahshid Abedi
Mahshid’s interview was natural and both listened and spoke in a very relaxed manner with a high level of fluency. Her daily routine description was grammatically accurate but she must now work hard to improve her overall grammatical accuracy which is not so good. In particular, she must remember to use present simple for hobbies and practise verb + ing or infinitive for expressing activities.
