Zahra Bahrami
Zahra seemed quite nervous but worked through my questions and repeated them to herself to try and understand rather than instantly asking for a repetition, which is good to see. Her expressions of frequency were varied and she was able to use the past simple regularly during her story of a past vacation. Going forward, Zahra’s main priority should be to practise her listening skills whenever possible.
Razie Rasool Zade
Razie used the past simple to talk about a past vacation and self-corrected some her subject verb agreement mistakes. She needed a couple of repetitions of my questions so could look to improve her listening skills and must also pay attention to her use of prepositions.
Behrooz Kruni
Behrooz’s listening skills are good and he was able to provide some good reasons for why people exercise. Unfortunately however, he did not provide any examples of the past simple when talking about a past experience which is essential for the better grades at this level. He must also push himself to provide more detailed and well-developed answers rather than relying solely on prompts.
Mina Nazemi
Mina’s pronunciation and listening skills are both very good and she was able to provide an accurate example of a comparative and superlative adjective. Mina lost marks because of her grammar which she should work hard to make more accurate in the future. In particular, she needs to focus on maintaining the past simple and expressing her free time activities using verb +gerund or infinitive.
Siavash Mirzaee
Siavash’s listening skills are excellent and he seemed quite confident communicating in English. Unfortunately, Sivash failed to provide even one example of the past simple and provided very short answers so it was difficult to accurately assess the true level of his capabilities. In the future he must push himself to provide more detailed responses but in the meantime he might want to spend some time working on his use of prepositions.
Reza Farzane
Reza’s pronunciation is fine and he was able to understand my questions with little need for repetition. His presentation of the activities he likes to do on vacation was good and generally quite accurate. Reza tried hard to expand his answers but was held back by a lack of sentence structure and a need for more basic vocabulary. These two areas should be his focus going forward.
Shahin Khoshvaghti
Shahin’s listening is good and he has a decent range of vocabulary. However, his answers were extremely short and some occasions, were no more than one or two words which made it extremely difficult to get an accurate understanding of his language ability. He did not provide any examples of the past simple and added the verb ‘to be’ unnecessarily.
Afshin Roastami
Afshin seemed quite nervous during the interview but was able to understand my questions without too much difficulty. He provided some good pre-learned phrases for expressing the reasons he does exercise and has some good, topic-specific vocabulary but does not have a complete understanding of sentence structure so is not able to put together grammatically correct answers. Structure should be his main priority going forward.
Masood Mazaree
Masood’s listening skills are excellent and he is clearly very confident at communicating in English. he has a good range of very natural-sounding vocabulary and his grammar is extremely accurate , despite having remained only in the present simple. Going forward, Masood should push himself to include some more complex forms such as a future or a conditional .
Mohammad Yazdani ABSENT
Homa Deh Bozorgian
Her listening could be improved with practice but some of her difficulty may be attributed to the connection problems. Her presentation of free time activities included a variety of verb + gerund/infinitives, and were accurate throughout. Her prepositions were also well-used. Unfortunately she chose to speak generally rather than using the past simple when I asked about what she did on her last holiday.
Amirhosein Dabbagh Manesh
Amirhosein was able to talk briefly about his daily routine and the reasons her exercises. Unfortunately, he did not appear to push himself to show me the language he is capable of during the interview and was unwilling to provide answers of more than even a couple of words. He did not use the past simple although prompted to on three occasions so must certainly ensure he improves next time.
Farhad Abad
Farhad’s knowledge and use of sentence structure is excellent and he was able to both understand and respond to my questions without the slightest of issues. In terms of pronunciation, he must make sure not to pronounce an ‘e’in front of words beginning with the letter ‘s’s, such as ‘estudy’ and should spend a little time revising his plural and singular nouns.
Shima Ghasemi
Shima’s pronunciation is fine and she has a suitable level of vocabulary for this level. Her presentation of a typical day was good and she included some past simple forms, although the form was not fully-maintained. Shiva’s biggest mistake was the use of the present continuous when talking about free time hobbies which she should be making mistakes with at this point. She must also remember to stay in the past simple until she has finished her story of a past experience.
Fateme Sharafi
Fateme’s pronunciation is very good and her subject verb agreements were all accurate. She has a nice range of vocabulary and has good understanding of the use of prepositions. Although she was keen to expand her answers, which is great to see, she must be careful to allow the examiner the time to ask the necessary questions. She must also remember to maintain the past simple when talking about a past vacation.
Saeed Sadri ABSENT
Hosein Saadat
Hosein provided a number of examples of expressions and adverbs of frequency and the activities he likes to do in his free time and his pronunciation is fine. Unfortunately, Hosein could not understand or misunderstood a number of my questions so provided lots of inaccurate answers. He must work on his listening skills in the near-future and be sure to listen carefully to what is being asked, clarifying if necessary.
Zahra Parsaee
Zahra both listened and spoke with confidence and has an excellent range of vocabulary. Her subject verb agreements were good and she used the pat simple, when required. Zahra was very keen to expand her answers, which is great but she must be careful not to get to get distracted from the original question. She must also remember the need for the verb ‘to be’ before an adjective.
Navid Mirza
Navid’s pronunciation is fine and he has good range of formal and informal vocabulary which he uses well. He used a basic conditional when talking about his free time activities and included a variety if expressions of frequency. Unfortunately, Navid only used the past simple once when talking about a previous holiday which he will need to improve on going forward. He could also benefit from practising his listening skills when he gets a chance.
Saeed Farhadi
Saeed did well in expressing his daily routine by using a variety of frequency expressions and provided some good examples in the past simple of pre-learned problems that could occur on vacation although he did not include when speaking with less control. He needs to practice differentiating between the use of –ed and –ing adjectives and must be sure not to use present continuous in the place of present simple when talking about hobbies.
Neda Rakhshanderoo
Neda’s listening is excellent and she is a very confident speaker. She included some examples of the past simple when talking about a past vacation but did not maintain it throughout the tale. Neda needs to concentrate more on her use of articles and must be sure not to forget the inclusion of subjects and main verbs in her speech.
Ali Rahbar Alam
Ali was able to describe his daily routine with ease and self-corrected a couple of his present simple – past simple mistakes when telling me about a past vacation. His answers were short and did allow me the chance to see what he is truly capable of so he should try to push himself more next time. He must also remember to use ‘lots of’ instead of ‘so’.
