Interview Feedback Level 4 Group 4
Abbas Bahramialoghare ABSENT
Ahmadreza Alinejad
Ahmadreza used a variety of adverbs of frequency to discuss his free time activities and spoke in a quite a natural, unrehearsed manner throughout the interview. He included some accurate examples of the past simple when talking about a past vacation but did not stay in the tense throughout. He must be careful not to unnecessarily include the verb ‘to be’ e.g., ‘I’m read books’ and should be sure to use ‘really’ instead ‘very’ when describing things that he likes.
Amin Tahghighjahromi
Amin’s pronunciation is good and he included some accurate examples of both regular and irregular past simple verbs. His listening skills are well-developed and he self-corrected an unnecessary verb ‘to be’ mistake. Amin must be sure to mix the adjective ‘healthy’ with the noun ‘health’ and should watch his pronunciation of the verb ‘to wear’. He should also pay attention to how to present his free time activities, in particular, when and when not to use ‘go’.
Homeyra Rahmanimotlagh
Homeyra was able to provide some good examples of what she does to stay healthy and she used contractions to make her speech seem more naturally-flowing. Although she did include some irregular and regular past simple verbs, she did not maintain their use through her tale of a past vacation. Homryra’s main focus, however, should be on her practising her sentence structure as this is not allowing her to express her ideas fully at present.
Sedighe Bahremand
Sedighe is obviously very comfortable communicating in English and was able to both listen and responds in a very natural manner. Her sentence structure and general grammatical accuracy (in the present tense) is good. Unfortunately, Sedighe did not remain in the past when talking about a previous holiday and mixed up her nouns, verbs and adjectives on a couple of occasions. She should focus on these areas going forward.
Elham Esfandiyarnejad
Elham provided a detailed introduction was willing to expand her answers without encouragement. Her expressions of frequency were varied, and the delivery of her health habits were very structurally, and grammatically accurate. Elham misunderstood a couple of my questions so may want to consider some listening practice. She should also watch her pronunciation of the verb ‘to wear’.
Mohamd Jeyrani ABSENT
Somaye Estahnanati
Somaye was able to include a zero conditional when talking about health and fitness and used some examples of the past simple when talking about a previous holiday. Her pronunciation was fine, as was her listening. Somaye must make sure she does not use the present simple to talk about her free time activities and needs to look at the use of strong and weak adjectives and their modifiers.
Hamid Frozani
Hamid provided an explanation of his typical day in great detail and was very accurate with his use of phrasal verbs. He provided some good examples of the ways in which he stays healthy and tried hard to expand his answers, although he seemed a little nervous. Although Hamid started his story of a past holiday in the past simple, he did not remain in it as he should have done and repeatedly used the preposition ‘on’ instead of ‘at’ with the weekend.
Nima Norani
Nima provided some really good possible problems people can have on vacation responded very naturally to my questions and without any repetition of my question in his answer. His listening skills are also good. Unfortunately, he didn’t use the past simple to talk about a previous vacation and made some mistakes with plural nouns, such as ‘persons’.
Zahra Rezai
Zahra clarified a number of my questions before answering to ensure she was providing the correct answer, which shows a nice attention to detail. She self-corrected and noun-adjective mistake and tried hard to expand her answers. She did not use the past simple to talk about her previous holiday and must remember to do this in the future. She must also make sure she practises her listening skills whenever she has free time.
Afsar Keshtekar
Afsar’s pronunciation is good and she used suitable modal verbs to discuss possibility. Her listening skills are excellent and she expanded her answers in a very natural and thoughtful way, maintaining the past simple throughout the whole of her story of a past vacation. Afsar must remember the pronunciation of ‘island’ (not ‘Iceland’) and should consider introducing some more complex structures such as a future or simple conditional in order to further increase her marks.
Ehsan Keshtekar
Ehsan spoke with confidence and provided some good examples of the ways in which people can stay healthy. He used modals verbs for ability and the past simple when talking about a problem on previous vacation, which were all accurate and has a good range of vocabulary. Ehan should try to use ‘older than me’ rather than ‘bigger than me’ when discussing the age of his siblings and, although his pronunciation is generally fine, he must make sure he does not pronounce ‘island’ and ‘Iceland’.
Vahid Karami
Vahid’s pronunciation is good and he was able to provide lots of examples of things he does in his free time. His subject verb agreements were generally accurate. Although he did begin his tale of a previous holiday in the past simple, he did not continue with it throughout. He must also spend some time studying the use of articles.
Mansor Kheradmand
Mansor’s explanation of what he does on a typical morning was detailed and used phrasal verbs very accurately. He remained in the past simple for both regular and irregular verbs when talking about a past vacation and was able to provide lots of examples of how remains healthy. Mansor must spend some time looking at when and when not to use prepositions e.g ‘come back to home’and should be careful not to add the letter ‘s’ to plural nouns such as ‘waters’.
Zahra Omran
Zahra’s pronunciation is good and she had a good understanding of my questions. Her responses were very natural and maintained the pat simple throughout her story of a previous vacation. Zahra must remember to use ‘by’ with transport rather than ‘with’ and she regularly added an ‘s’ to typically plural nouns such as ‘seafoods’.
Roya Pirani
Roya’s pronunciation was good and she remained in the past simple for regular and irregular verbs throughout her tale of a past vacation. Her phrasal verbs for her morning routine were all accurate and she used modals to describe how she should dress in work and at home. Roya must remember not use ‘to’ with sightseeing e.g., ‘go to sightseeing’ and could consider trying to introduce some more complex forms such as a future or basic conditional to her speech in order to obtain even higher marks.
Nilofar Niro
Nilofar’s listening skills are excellent and her answers were both natural and detailed. Her ways of staying healthy were all very accurate and maintained the past simple throughout her story of a previous holiday. Nilofar must remember not to use ‘to’ with ‘go to home’ and should consider trying to include some more complex forms such as a basic conditional or simple future in order to further increase her marks.
Malihe Ordibehesht
Malihe’s listening skills are good and she provided a detailed explanation of her daily routine which included phrasal verbs and continuation devices such as ‘then...’ and ‘after that...’ which worked well. She maintained the past simple when talking about a past event. Malihe must remember when and when not to use the definite article e,g., ‘I go to the work’ and that ‘to’ does not follow a modal e.g., ‘I must to wear...’.
Zinat Hamrahi
Zinat used the past simple well throughout her story of a previous holiday and self-corrected the couple of mistake she made with it. She used a range of expressions of frequency and was able to present her morning routine with accurate phrasal verbs. Unfortunately, Zinat misanswered a couple of my questions including one about what she wore to work and must remember the importance of including a personal pronoun, when required.
Marziye Zarezade
Marziye provided a nice introduction and although she found understanding some of my questions to be quite difficult, she worked through them and repeated them to herself rather than just giving up and asking for a repetition, which is great. She included some past simple verbs but must remember to stay in the past simple throughout her story of a past vacation and occasionally forgot her subjects and main verbs.
Kaveh Eslamloo
Kavesh has a good range of vocabulary and was able to understand my questions without hesitation. Unfortunately, he regularly included the verb ‘to be’ unnecessarily, particularly when talking about his daily routine and did not use the past simple to talk about a past holiday. He should spend some time working on these areas going forward.
