Interview Feedback Level 4

Masoud Abak

Masoud could form present and past simple sentences properly and used frequency adverbs correctly. Furthermore, he used an appropriate range of vocabulary like ‘conservative’ and ‘modest’ and gave a good description on his evening routine. However, he made a couple of errors with pronunciation as he stressed ‘hotel’ incorrectly and he confused a few connectors such as ‘and’ instead of ‘so’. Also, he should try to expand his answers a little more as he had to be asked ‘why’ on several occasions.

Atefeh Abak

Atefeh had excellent listening skills and used examples to support some of her answers. Also, she spoke in full sentences throughout, using suitable lexis, and could use present and past structures well. She should use more modal verbs, especially to refer to possible vacation problems and ought to vary her sequencing words as she would use ‘then’ a little too often.

Sara Kishizadeh

Sara spoke at a natural pace, could lengthen her answers easily by providing suitable reasons and was able to use an array of lexis. In addition, she used correct verb patterns like ‘avoid eating’ and could use comparative language fittingly. She stressed some words incorrectly as she stressed the third syllable in ‘conservative’. Furthermore, she missed out the verb to ‘be’ once or twice, but was still comprehendible.

Fatemeh Hoseini

Fatemeh gave a detailed introduction and could use past simple verbs. She used frequency adverbs and time expressions appropriately and was able to form simple sentences. Having said this, she needs to work on her listening further as she misheard a couple of questions such as one relating to whether it was OK to wear casual clothes at work. Furthermore, she should use sequencing words to help stage her ideas and should work on her intonation because it tended to constantly rise in every sentence.

Nima Partabiyan

Nima had good listening and pronunciation skills, also, he used adequate adverbs and modals. He used a wide range of vocabulary and attempted to form sentences with slightly more complex structures like first conditional; with only the slightest error of missing out ‘will’. Although he generally had good pronunciation, he would pronounce his ‘v’ as a ‘w’ as in ‘wacation’. Finally, he used an adjective a couple of times instead of an adverb.

Farkhondeh Shahbaziyan

Farkhondeh was a pleasant candidate who spoke clearly and at a good pace. She could form simple sentences and used articles correctly. However, she struggled a lot with her listening because throughout her interview she would give an inaccurate response to each of her questions. One example of this is when she was asked about what she did to stay healthy, she responded with her occupation – ‘I am housewife’. Furthermore, she would use a mixture of tenses in the same sentence and gave quite a limited reply. She should also work on expanding her lexis as she did not understand key words.

Reza Zare

Reza gave detailed responses throughout and was able to use a range of modal verbs and adverbs. He couple comprehend his questions easily and demonstrated excellent listening skills as he did not struggle to reply. He should work on his prepositions as he used ‘for’ instead of ‘to’ when speaking about purpose. In addition, he was unsure of his question relating to his typical evening because he did not know the meaning for ‘typical’ and he used present continuous tense once to talk on his routine.

Mohammad Javad Mansori

Mohammad could comprehend his questions easily, used a range of adverbs of frequency like ‘rarely’ and spoke in the present and past simple tense with ease. He used appropriate collocations like ‘burn calories’ and used when clauses correctly. He should use modal verbs to refer to possible vacation problems more and use a couple of examples to expand his answers slightly further.

She used a range of frequency adverbs like ‘hardly ever’ and seemed to comprehend her questions well as she could give appropriate ideas. Majid Rasti

Majid had very good listening and pronunciation as he stressed words well and had brilliant intonation. He could use comparative language such as adjectives correctly as he said, ‘it’s healthier than other sports’. In addition, he used correct verb forms in third person and past simple sentences. He should work on his comprehension a little more as he struggled to give a suitable response on ‘dress code’. Also, he used the definite article with plural nouns to speak in general terms.

Narjes Dehghan Zadeh

Narjes used a wide range of vocabulary in her answers and used correct verb patterns. She could speak in full sentences and used adequate adverbs. Having said this, she made a couple of word order mistakes as she placed her adverb at the end of her sentence such as ‘I do exercise hardly ever’. Also, she did not use sequencing words to refer to her typical morning and needs to work on her listening a little as she was unsure of her question referring to where she stays on vacation.

Poriya Far Nejati

Poriya formed sentences perfectly using a brilliant range of adjectives with correct prefixes like ‘impolite’ and ‘disrespectful’. Furthermore, he used modal and conditional structures and gave detailed answers throughout. He made a couple of errors with plural quantifiers as he said, ‘most of people’ and tended to use ‘well’ to begin his answers so he would benefit from varying his opening expressions.

Mohammad Hosein Tamadoni

Mohammad used comparative language correctly and could speak using the present simple tense properly. He used correct verb patterns such as ‘I like to see historical places’ and attempted to use a couple of conditional structures. He made one or two mistakes with irregular adverbs such as ‘I work hardly’ and could only use the past simple verb of ‘go’ when speaking in the past.

Mehdi Jabri

Mehdi was able to use one or two personal examples to expand his answers and used emphasising words correctly. He had good listening and pronunciation and could use a range of modal verbs with accurate structures. Having said this, he should try to vary his expressions to talk about possible problems such as using ‘could’ or ‘may’ and used an incorrect noun a couple of times as he said ‘people want to have a good shape’ instead of ‘…a good body’.

Elaheh Ghodrat Elahi

Elaheh used correct structures when using the modal verb ‘should’ she could comprehend her questions as she was able to speak using appropriate language. Also, she could speak using third person sentences well. However, she needs to expand her vocabulary much more because she would repeat the same information previously said in the same answer in order to give a fuller reply. Furthermore, she made a few mistakes with adverbs like ‘I hardly never’ and used two main verbs in the same sentences.

Hosein Parvandeh

Hosein used appropriate examples in his questions a few times and used frequency adverbs accurately. He demonstrated very good listening skills and could understand his questions easily enough. Furthermore, he used opinionative phrases such as ‘yes of course’ and spoke in the present simple tense well. He should work on prepositions as he said, ‘I stay to our family home’ and mispronounced ‘delayed’. Also, he would benefit from using more modals for possible problems.

Farshid Zare

Farshid gave a detailed introduction and used the present perfect tense accurately. He extended his sentences with time expressions, for example ‘four times a week’ and used sequencing words to stage his responses. However, he would use ‘usually’ a little too often so he ought to vary them more. In addition, he mispronounced ‘sweets’ and used an incorrect prepositions with different nouns like ‘in the weekend’.

Sajad Khaledi

Sajad could understand the majority of his questions and had good listening skills. He formed plural nouns correctly, used frequency adverbs and spoke clearly with a good pace. He needs to work on expanding his answers because he had to be asked ‘why’ on several occasions to gain extra information. Also, he missed out main verbs in some sentences and could only use the past simple verb of ‘go’ when asked about a previous vacation.

Hosein Shirvani

Hosein used suitable vocabulary and could form sentences using correct verb collocations. He demonstrated good listening skills as he answered his questions without many difficulties. However, he needs to use more sequencing words to refer to his routine and could have used modals to talk about possible problems. Also, he should try to speak in full sentences throughout because he listed some of his ideas for a few questions.

Hamed Aghaee

Hamed spoke clearly and had good pronunciation using correct stress and intonation. He was able to use plural and third person sentences correctly and attempted to use time expressions to extend them. Having said this, he made a couple of errors with a few of them because he said, ‘twonce’ rather than ‘once or twice’ and he used ‘to’ after should. Furthermore, he needs to work on his vocabulary because he would use examples to express his meaning instead of using a more accurate word to fully communicate. Also, he misheard his question on healthy habits because he spoke on other people’s instead of his own.
