Leila Malekzadeh
Leila’s pronunciation is excellent and she was able to understand my questions without difficulty. Her subject verb agreements and pronouns were generally very accurate and she used and maintained the past simple when required. Leila confused the adjective ‘healthy’ with the noun ‘health’ on more than one occasion and should consider trying to include some more complex structures in the future in order to further increase her marks.
Mohammad Amin Danesh
Mohammad Amin used the past simple well to talk about a past vacation and clarified questions her wasn’t sure about which shows a nice desire for accuracy. He correctly used modal verbs to talk about what people ‘must’ and ‘mustn’t’ wear to work and has a suitable range of vocabulary for this level. Going forward, Mohammad Amin must try to get out of the habit of saying ‘that’s it’ at the end of each answer which sounds very unnatural and must remember to use ‘lots of’ rather than ‘more’.
Mohammad Sheyhkiy
Mohammed used some good topic-specific vocabulary when talking about potential problems on vacation and why doing exercise is important to him. He was also able to talk about his daily routine in an accurate manner. Unfortunately, Mohammed was held back by poor listening skills and a lack of vocabulary which he will need to work on improving going forward. He should try and get as much extra listening practice in his own time as possible.
Hasan Esamaili
Hasan’s grammar was generally very accurate and he spoke with care and attention throughout. He used possessive ‘s’ well and understood my questions without difficulty. Hasan would benefit from obtaining more vocabulary to allow him more variety in his speech and should particularly take care not to repeat ‘usually’ too often. He must also be sure not to confuse the noun ‘health’ with the adjective ‘healthy’.
Vahid Rahmaniyan
Vahid’s listening skills are good and he was able to provide some good examples of what he does in his free time. He used the past simple when he began to talk about a previous vacation but unfortunately mistakenly slipped into the present continuous incorrectly when talking about what he did there. He should spend some time working on his use of articles and be sure to add the third person ‘s’ to the verb and not the subject.
Hamidreza Rahimi Poor
Hamidreza understood my questions well and has some good topic-specific vocabulary. He used a nice ‘if’ clause when talking about a conditional situation but must be sure not to forget the importance of including the main verb or incorrectly include the verb ‘to be’ such as ‘I’m go work at...’. He might also like to consider trying to obtain some more general vocabulary.
Farzaneh Diyanat
Farzaneh’s pronunciation is good and she self-corrected some of her simple mistakes. She has a good range of vocabulary and used some helpful staging language like ‘after that..’ and ‘then...’ when talking about her daily routine. Farzaneh needs to try and get some more speaking practice to try and improve the fluency of her speech and should spend some time looking at the structure of comparative adjectives.
Elham Abolzadeh
Elham was able to talk about her daily routine and her free time activities with confidence and self-corrected a preposition mistake. Her pronunciation is fine but she needs to practise the pronunciation of ‘ed’ endings such as ‘dressed’. She struggled to understand a couple of my questions so I would suggest Elham try to get some extra listening practice in her free time.
Mehran Rastegar
Mehran used the past simple well when talking about his last vacation and managed to sustain it throughout his story. He used some varied expressions of frequency and comparative adjectives but he slightly misanswered my questions of what he does in his free time by discussing his daily routine. He must be sure not to confuse the adjective ‘healthy’ with the noun ‘health’.
Asal Arasteh
Asal’s listening skills are very good and she used the possessive ‘s’ in a very natural way. She used a good range of expressions of frequency and she spoke about her daily routine in an accurate manner. Going forward, Asal should be sure not to use the verb ‘use’ instead of ‘wear’ when talking about clothes and must be made aware of the difference in meaning between ‘very’ and ‘too’.
Alireza Tabatabay
Alireza’s listening and pronunciation skills are good and he self-corrected a couple of his subject verb agreement mistakes. He used a good range of expressions of frequency and the past simple, when necessary. Alireza’s standard of English is high but he should consider trying to get some more advanced structures such as a past continuous or simple future to further improve his marks.
Navab Fereydoni
Navab understood my questions well and used the past simple well when talking about a previous vacation. He spoke about his daily routine using some suitable phrasal verbs but he seemed slightly nervous when speaking. I would recommend Navab try to get a little more speaking practice in his free time in order to give himself more confidence in the future. He must also be careful not to confuse adjectives like ‘cheap’ and ‘expensive’.
Majid Dastfard
Majid used the past simple well when talking about a previous vacation as was able to maintain it throughout his story. He use the present continuous and pronouns accurately and tried very hard to provide detailed answers, although he seemed quite nervous. Majid would benefit from some speaking practice to increase his confidence and must be careful not to confuse some of his topic-specific vocabulary such as ‘wifehouse’ (housewife).
Khadijeh Ghasemiyan
Khadijeh spoke with a high level of confidence during the interview and expanded her answers well. She self-corrected some of her present/past simple errors and has a good range of vocabulary. Unfortunately, Khadijeh struggled to understood some of my questions so should try to get some more listening practice and needs to revise her use of plural and uncountable nouns.
Faranak Bani Asad
Faranak understood my questions well and used the past simple accurately, when required. She has a good range of vocabulary and was able to talk about her daily routine in detail although she did confuse ‘breakfast’ with ‘dinner’. Going forward I would recommend Faranak focus on her use of plurals which she made a number of mistakes with during the interview. This is an easy way to improve her marks in the future.
Elham Karami
Elham’s listening skills are excellent and she was able to understand all of my questions without any difficulty. She provided some could suggestions for possible problems people might face on vacation and when discussing a previous vacation she started in the past simple but unfortunately did not maintain it throughout her story. Elham needs to remember to use ‘once’ and ‘twice’ a week rather than ‘one’ and ‘two’ times and needs to revise her use of comparative adjectives.
Maryam Rasekh
Maryam’s listening skills are extremely well developed and she clearly feels confident communicating in English. She has a good range of both formal and informal vocabulary and she tried hard to provide detailed answers to my questions. Unfortunately Maryam’s level of accuracy is considerably lower so I would recommend she begin by revising sentence structure in English and then look to perfect her use of plurals and modifiers.
Pedram Gerakohi
Pedram tried very hard to provide detailed and accurate answers to my questions. He included a ‘going to’ future accurately as well as some examples of the past simple although this was not maintained throughout his story of a previous vacation. He talked about his health routine in detail, including some varied expressions of frequency, but regularly forgot articles and often confused nouns and verbs such as ‘history (historical) places’.
Elham Javanmardi
Elham’s listening skills are well-developed and she was able to understand my questions without difficulty. She used the past simple accurately when speaking about a previous vacation and included some nice modifiers when giving more information. Generally, Elham’s answers were very short so she didn’t allow herself the chance to show me what she was fully-capable of but she must spend some time focussing on when, and when not, to use the verb ‘to be’.
Atefeh Morshedi
Atefeh understood all of my questions without difficulty and was able to talk about her free time activities and daily routine using suitable vocabulary. She used comparative adjectives and negative present simple but regularly forgot to include the main verb and/or objects which she will really need to work on going forward. She must also remember the importance of using the past simple when referring to a completed past event such as a previous vacation.
